The carousel is operational! We had "rotation" on Friday 04.12.2013 at Studio 6A Water Street Studios. This calm scene is just prior to the opening of my studio to the public. The performers were gathered and put on a wonderful unrehearsed first showing. Greta Bell and her Carousel, Annette the Marionette, Moi, and Ilya duGaz were there to welcome and encourage everyone to join the R/Evolving Circus. We are in need of a willing performer to join the circus as a person to be sawn-in-half. No experience necessary. We are also taking applications for a Circus Doctor as well. A new career awaits you!
Your possible future R/Evolving Circus colleagues.
These are new additions to the carousel. These new attachments will improve the assembly time as well as the overall flexibility of the carousel system for hanging Greta Bell's remarkable paintings. In the assembly instructions they are referred to as the "hope springs". Because they will be lightly loaded and only minimally cycled they will probably be eternal.
You may have wondered what is hanging on the wall behind the carousel. It is an evolving piece of art, something to replace the old buffalobull(skull) and Shinola can that were off the wall for far too long and the difference was recognized some time ago between the B.S. and the Shinola. The working title of this flimflam fabrication is "Dead Reckoning" , quite pleasant, n'est ce-pas?
Heady stuff I reckon.
I bet you're wishing I hadn't said that. I see that the gloves have come off. No iron fist concealed here.
Do you see that 47 is the correct number here? I'm knot just stringing you along again but I couldn't resist the temptation for witless wizdumb to spiral out of control.
This may be note worthy. A page from one of my sketchbooks is included in this photograph of some of the original working drawings of the carousel. It is the earliest drawing with a note dated 10.03.2011. Nota Bene "The Puppeteer" appears at the top of the sketch. Some early guidance perhaps. Do you see the 'man in the moon' base? I do.
There will be some minor modifications required for the disassembled carousel to fit within the R/Evolving Circus trailer. The longest central mast element connection bolts and spacer tubes need to be shortened by approximately 3". Not bad given that the fit of all of the parts into the trailer was based upon implementation of the SWAG method.
Surprising isn't it? I am wondering where the Gerbil Quantum Drive will fit. More planning and ciphering. While others may mock my slow and deliberate progress; not unlike the tortoise pursuing the hare down the rabbit hole, Mr. Dodgson's arithmetic properties of Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision will be substituted for the scientific wise ass guess.
