I will have the opportunity in the very near future to experiment with a high speed (1200fps) video camera. The video will be of the piece "Bye-Polar Ice". In preparing for the upcoming video session I assembled the parts and pieces of this "fabrication" in the studio on Monday 01.28.2013. There are things in the various photos that will be corrected when the "real" high speed video is made. I hope you will enjoy the rawness of photos and of the process.

Hanging magnet attracting pins from the "tip of the iceberg" . Please note that the magnet is wrapped with plastic and the plexiglass container is wrapped as well. This is for experimental purposes only.

This is the base that holds the 12'  long graphite pole in place. The pole is a fishing pole blank meaning there are no fishing line guides attached to it. I'm just fishing for a compliment.

The base is made from 1" thick high strength steel scrap. It has been fabricated into the Chinese character symbolizing "Man". There is fairly high level of carbon content in this material. I may be suggesting a possible link between the current warming polar events and our not so insignificant contributions to these events.

Warmest ever January since records have been kept.  65 deg. F on Tuesday 01.29.2013. 20 deg. F on Thursday 01.31.2013.

I have been thinking recently that we are all spheres of energy. In essence  vibrational patterns, or ripples radiating outward from our center creating a field that is "read" by others as our fields bump together. Sometimes the interacting fields align harmonically and sometimes not. The drawing/collage is a sort of translation of that notion from an aerial panoramic vantage-point.

Not all is harmonious and tranquil within our individual spherical containment fields but some of what we encounter can be, that certainly is encouraging.

The surface of our "field" is favorably affected by the application of Meditation, Music and Silence. May you find some of each of these things today.

Some things are "stitched" together creating lines of communication perhaps.

You may be wondering how this landmass is related to "The Forgetting".
There may be any number of reasons why. Perhaps similar shapes occur within the drawing. It may the fragmentary nature of the drawing as it relates to the satellite image. There may also be a relationship to the 'forgetting" of the land/ice mass as we know it. The roadmap will veer off in a Southerly direction and orient towards the piece titled "Bye-Polar Ice" You are only seeing the tip of the iceberg this morning.

The tip of the iceberg. As with icebergs more will be revealed slowly yet surely over time.

This is a portion of a much larger drawing titled "The Forgetting".
The basis of the drawing is the association of memory fragments lost and possible unexpected recovery. A typewriter was employed to provide impact to the words carefully chosen.  Some words cause immediate fear, some are associated with home, some may even be misspelled as memory fades. They float through the fields of recollection and may be captured by careful suturing. What we stitch together however may not be actual and factual.

Peace, Music & Silence.........

Roadmaps

Good Morning.

I begin each day with writing in a spiral bound notebook with a fountain pen. It is a a "roadmap" of sorts one that outlines the previous day and traces the possible direction of the present day. It has been a 17 year long practice so there is a tall stack of notebooks and a fairly continuous inked line.

A spiral galaxy on a website I look at each morning and another type of "roadmap" is to the left here are possibly related. The "roadmap" fragment is from a larger drawing titled "The Forgetting". It is appropriate because I've forgotten what I was going to say.

Because this  type of notebook is new to me I apologize for the seemingly disjointedness of it. I will work on getting the "hang of it".
